DOJ Investigates UHC Claims Practices

As recently reported in The Wall Street Journal, The Department of Justice announced it is conducting an investigation into Medicare Advantage billing practices of United Health Care (UHC).

The health insurer said it was unaware of any new probe underway. The DOJ is specifically looking at diagnoses that triggered extra payments to the company’s Medicare Advantage plans. UHC stock prices continue to drop. This string of bad luck, dating back to the murder of its CEO, may compel UHC to undertake more aggressive compliance audits aimed at generating revenue for the struggling health care giant.
